Lotus Light Charity Society Celebrates Mother’s Day with a Joyful Outdoor BBQ Party

On May 9, 2026, the Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver) hosted its annual Mother’s Day BBQ Party at the Lotus Light Monastery, welcoming members of the Lotus Light Longevity Star Senior Club to gather together in celebration. The event brought together three generations of families and friends in a warm, joyful, and lively atmosphere.

The celebration officially began at 12:30 p.m. Honorable guests included Master Lian Tzi, President and Chair of the Board of Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver); Ms. Shu-Chen Kuo, Director of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Vancouver; Mr. Caesar Kai-Feng Tung, Secretary-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver; Dr. Floyd Wong, Vice President of Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver) and Director of Glitter Woods Investments Ltd.; Ms. Melanie Hennessey, Vice President of NOVAGOLD and President of Covenant House; Mr. Paul Pai, Senior Engineer at Stantec Engineering Consultants; and Ms. Sofan Ho, Board Member of the CCBA of Vancouver, Canada. Guests, volunteers, and members of the Lotus Light Longevity Star Senior Club gathered together to celebrate Mother’s Day and honor the important role of mothers in the community.

In addition to enjoying a delicious BBQ meal, guests were entertained by a lively line dance performance presented by volunteers from the Lotus Light Charity kitchen team, adding energy and festive spirit to the celebration. Members of the Longevity Star Senior Club also showcased the skills they learned in the Senior Club Flower Arrangement Workshop through a fun flower-arranging relay game. Each participant had to place one flower within a limited time, creating unique and beautiful arrangements as a team effort. All four teams produced impressive floral displays, making it difficult to select a winner. In the end, everyone was recognized and all teams received awards for their creativity and teamwork.

During the closing ceremony, Master Lian Tzi and the honorable guests presented certificates of appreciation to long-term volunteers in recognition of their dedication and service. A large birthday cake was also presented to celebrate the birthdays of members born in May, while offering special blessings and appreciation to all mothers in attendance.

Before concluding the event, the emcee thanked all honorable guests, volunteers, and participants for their support and announced the upcoming 10th “Lotus Light Community Care Day,” a special charity event dedicated to supporting vulnerable members of the community. The event will be held on Saturday, July 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the Lotus Light Charity Society headquarters. The public is warmly invited to participate and donate to help purchase food and household supplies for families and individuals in need.
