Lotus Light Fundraising for Japan Earthquake Victims
3月初，日本有史以來最強大的9.0級地震引發大海嘯，摧毀了東京東北的沿海城市仙台市基礎設施，汽車，船舶和建築物一掃而空。溫哥華華光功德會義工緊急街頭籌款，首筆善款5000加元，撥助由自願者組成的非營利組織加拿大醫療救援隊（CMAT），週二3月22日趕赴日本災區，在日本地震災區部署一個戰地醫院和水淨化系統。在22日溫哥華國際機場捐款儀式上，到場媒體Vancouver Sun, CTV, City TV, Fairchild TV, 1130AM分別採訪了華光功德會義工及CMAT隊員，功德會向到場媒體CMAT介紹華光功德會繼續為CMAT籌款，並贈送一面由功德會會員簽名的加拿大國旗給CMAT，祝CMAT隊員一路平安。 Earlier this month, Japan's most powerful earthquake since records began, triggering a massive tsunami. The 9.0 magnitude tremor devastated coastal cities and infrastructure, sweeping away cars, ships and buildings north-east of Tokyo. The Lotus Light Charity Society (“LLCS”) Vancouver chapter is proud to support the deployment of a field hospital and water purification system to Japan on Tuesday, March 22nd, through the Canadian Medical Assistance Teams (“CMAT”), a volunteer-based, non-profit organization.
