2010 Lotus Light Charity Gala

Lotus Light Charity Society Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Lotus Light Charity Gala, Sunday, December 12, 2010, 6:00 pm – 10:30 pm, at Continental Seafood Restaurant (150-11700 Cambie Road, Richmond, BC V6X 1L5, at No 5 Rd). Features live performance, prizes & free draw.

Proceeds from this special event will support Lotus Light Charity Society services and programs in Social Assistance, Education, Medical Assistance and Cultural Awareness, such as Lotus Light Charity Scholarship, Lotus Light Annual Winter Charity Drive, Annual Rice Donation, etc.

Founded in 1993 by the renowned Buddhist Grand Master Sheng-Yen Lu, the charity has been fulfilling the dream and vision of its founder, actively promoting the importance of community charity work, through improving cultural awareness and harmony, through providing financial assistance to promising students, through providing medicine and needed supplies to the ill and the suffering, and through promoting social development. There are over 90 Lotus Light Charity Society local chapters throughout the world.

In the past 17 years, Lotus Light Charity Society Vancouver has developed many services and programs to help our local community such as

·        Annual Lotus Light Winter Charity Drive, providing large amounts of winter garments and non-perishable food items to low income residents; and Annual Rice Donation campaigns for GVFB.

·        Annual Lotus Light Scholarship program has recognized more than 100 of our brightest and most community-conscious students since the program was first introduced in 1993.

·        The LLCS Medical assistant program has contributed funds to Strathcona Dental Centre, Doctors Without Borders, BC Cancer Society, BC Children’s Hospital, etc.

The Charity also contributes to national and global causes such as donating 20,000 lbs of rice and relief materials to Haiti Heart to Heart Orphanage after the Jan 12, 2010 Earthquake; providing disaster and famine relieves for 2009 Taiwan Typhoon Morokot Flooding, 2008 China Sichuan Earthquake, 2004 South Asia Tsunami and the Manitoba Flooding, etc. LLCS is also an active supporter of other charity organizations at the community, provincial, and national levels.
