As Vancouverites bundle up for another frosty
winter, the Lotus Light Charity Society is pleased
to once again support the Vancouver Police
Department’s Homeless Outreach Program.
On Saturday, December 1 at 2:00pm, Lotus Light will
present VPD’s representatives with a donation of 250
sleeping bags and 350 winter care packages, in
addition to a public distribution of 150 sleeping
bags directly to the homeless at Lotus Light
Charity’s head office, 347 E. Hastings Street,
Vancouver.
Lotus Light welcomes our community partners and
local media to attend this community caring event to
support the VPD’s winter-blanket initiative for the
homeless, now in its 5th year.
Julien Ponsioen, Superintendent of Platoon
Operation, B. C. Ambulance Service states, ”These
sleeping bags will help the men and women on the
streets of Metro Vancouver stay warm and give a
level of comfort..”
The Lotus Light 2012 Winter Charity Drive, now in
its 17th year, relies on financial and in-kind
donations from individuals and corporate supporters
to continue its campaign to distribute sleeping bags
and emergency care packages in partnership with
local shelters and family service agencies
throughout the Lower Mainland, including the British
Columbia Ambulance Service.
“Let’s work together to ensure Vancouver’s most
vulnerable people, the homeless and disadvantaged,
have something warm to survive the cold this
winter,” said Buddhist Master Lian Tzi, President of
Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver).
In the spirit of its motto "Through caring and
learning, we help to build a better tomorrow" Lotus
Light Charity Society (Vancouver) is a registered
non‑profit charity dedicated to helping the most
vulnerable in our local community.
