Lotus Light donated 5,000 food gifts to people in need before Chinese New Year
Lotus Light Charity Society donated to many charitable organizations and schools in Metro Vancouver before the Chinese New Year, items donated including fruit juices, instant cup noodles, skimmed milk powder, rice, bread, granola bars, fruits and produces, sandwiches, cereals, peanut butter, canned tuna fish, pastries, frozen bologna sausage and bacon, bottled water, student backpacks, fabric masks, shampoo and conditioners, feminine pads, and hand sanitizers, totals more than 5,000 foods and personal hygiene and sanitizing products to help low-income and single parents families, seniors, women, students and homeless. Nearly 1,000 people are benefited. Organizations received donations include Chief Maquinna Elementary School、Tecumseh Elementary School、Little Mountain Neighbourhood House、YWCA Crabtree Corner Centre、Strathcona Community Centre Food Hub、Powell Street Getaway Resources Centre、Coquitlam and Surrey low-income families、Grandview-Woodland CPC、Collingwood CPC、Chinese CPC, and Aboriginal CPC. The staff of the Community Policing Centers told LLCS volunteer that on their routine patrols in the community, they often see homeless people who is asking for food and clean drinking water. The granola bars and bottled water are handy and suitable for their needs.
The principal of Chief Maquinna Elementary School sent a letter to thank LLCS for the supports: “Dear President Master Lian Tzi of Lotus Light Charity Society, I want to take the time to sincerely thank you for your donation to the students and families of Chief Maquinna Elementary School. Lotus Light Charity’s generous contribution on February 8th, 2021 is going to help us get food into the fridges and cupboards of some of our most in need families. Our community is largely made up of families who struggle at the best of times, the pandemic has pushed them off the knifes edge. Your donation allows us to better serve these families so their children can come to school with a full belly, to give the ease of mind to in turn become successful learners. Thank you again for your generosity and support!”
