Lotus Light and Community Partner Celebrate Chinese New Year with Gifts to Osborn Shelter Residents
As temperature at night continues dropping around or below 0C, urgent shelters are opened in municipalities across metro Vancouver. Lotus Light and community partner Strathcona Community Policing Centre celebrated 2022 Tiger Chinese New Year with clients at Vancouver’s newly opened shelter, Osborn Shelter on Hastings East Vancouver.
One day before the Chinese New Year Eve, Lotus Light volunteer and volunteers from partner organization Strathcona Community Policing Centre distributed hot Starbucks coffee, new blankets, hand sanitizer, beverages and snacks inside the Osborn Shelter. Residents in the shelter are very happy to receive the care items distributed by volunteers from Lotus Light and Strathcona CPC. Osborn is a newly renovated shelter at the originally Vancouver’s iconic Army & Navy building, the new shelter could accommodate 90 clients and serves 3 basic meals per day. Each client has his own bed with locker.
Lotus Light will continue partnering with generous corporate sponsors, food warehouses, local food assistance groups, and food distribution hubs to distribute much needed food, as well as personal protection equipment, to people in need in our community.
