Lotus Light’s Children Assistance Plan Donates Groceries to Support Inner-City Students from Low-Income Families

As the new school year begins, Lotus Light volunteers are preparing grocery donations to support low-income families of inner-city students, especially as many school pantry programs have run out of supplies.

The Children Assistance Plan primarily targets inner-city schools, which have a higher ratio of low-income students. This time, four elementary schools — Britannia Elementary School, Strathcona Elementary School, Xpey’ Elementary School, and Thunderbird Elementary School — received donations. The grocery items included a variety of Campbell’s canned soup, instant noodles, tuna family packs, rice, stovetop stuffing mix, spaghetti, boxed cereal, and cookies.

Thank You Card from Britannia Elementary School.

“Thank you so much,” said Stephanie, Neighborhood Assistant of Britannia Elementary School. “The kids love instant noodles.”

“Thank you, it’s the perfect time to receive donations for our family program,” expressed Cathy Leung, the Neighborhood Assistant at Strathcona Elementary, expressing gratitude to Lotus Light.

Lotus Light’s Children Assistance Plan donates 3 to 4 times a year to support school programs for low-income families. We welcome monetary and in-kind donations from generous individuals and corporate sponsors to support our initiatives.
