Vajra Master Lian Tzi, President of Lotus Light Charity Society Vancouver announced our local Charity donates an initial commitment of $10,000 of medical supplies to help rescuing efforts of recent Philippines Typhoon Haiyan victims immediately. Our representing team (Canadian Medical Assistance Team) is presently in Philippines to assess appropriate site to set up an inflatable field hospital. On Nov.17 at 10:30pm, LLCS committee members (Teresa, Edward, Oi, Doreen, Augustine, Linda, Edward, Sean and Ada) bid farewell to departing second team CMAT at jade canoe sculptor at YVR Vancouver International Airport. LLCS charity flag with Vajra Master Lian Tzi signature and our Canadian flag was presented to Dr. J. Rashad Chin, second team leader. CMAT has already deployed their first team consisting of their executive director Val Rzepka, Board member Deborah Exelby and another member on ground near Cebu on Wed Nov13. Second medical team, consisting of 14 members (2 doctors & others are nurses and paramedics) led by Dr. J. Rashad Chin have departed at 3:30am Mon, Nov18 from YVR Vancouver International Airport to Cebu Philippines to meet with their first team at Cebu Airport then travel by truck for a short few hours to connect onto a boat to set up their inflatable field hospital at an affected Typhoon location. Their luggage includes an electric generator, inflatable hospital, water purification tablets, military foods, and essential medical supplies.
