Lotus Light Extreme Weather Response Team Distributes Winter Care Items to Help Street Homeless
Municipalities have issued extreme weather responses across Metro Vancouver and opened up warm centres and temporary shelters to take in people who need a place to stay overnight as temperatures in the Lower Mainland have dropped below zero. The Lotus Light Extreme Weather Response team has mobilized to distribute care packages, hoodies, and winter coats to the street homeless and local shelters.
Last Saturday, Lotus Light’s Extreme Weather Response team volunteers began distributing care packages, warm hoodies, winter coats, muffins, croissants, drinks, and snacks to the street homeless.
On Monday morning, regional daytime temperatures also dropped below zero. Lotus Light volunteers delivered extra care packages, hoodies, winter coats, and snacks to the city’s temporary shelter at the Aboriginal Front Door Society.
The Extreme Weather Response is part of Lotus Light’s annual Winter Charity Drive. Every year, Lotus Light partners with the Homeless Outreach of VPD, BC Ambulance Service, and the City of Vancouver Temporary Shelter program to distribute care items to help the vulnerable in the community.
