Ray-Cam & Britannia visits
What’s there to do to kick-off 2014 New Years better than serving fresh baked chocolate and vanilla iced cakes, care packages, and kids school backpacks to after school childcare programs of Vancouver’s community centres of our poorest neighbourhoods? Courageous Lotus Light Charity Society Vancouver volunteers, Angel, Charles, Erin, Mofen, William and Ada conquered the heavy rain, bringing in all these donated items in the late afternoon on Friday, January 10, 2014. Vancouver’s famous for its rainy days not stopping, but pieces of iced chocolate and vanilla cakes makes Ray-Cam & Britannia’s activity rooms filled with much sunlight and glowing faces. This placed big smiles on kids, their parents and the centre’s staff. “Thanks so much! Everything’s a perfect okay when there’s chocolate cake for everyone here!” claimed one of the activity workers of Ray-Cam Community Centre’s Latchkey After-School Childcare Program. “We never had any cake donations like this before! This is delicious!” he continued as he helped serve kids with Lotus Light volunteers. Cakes were donated by Costco Downtown Vancouver location and serves up to 100 people at each community centre.
