Vancouver is wrapped with jingles and joy on Dec.20th inside Lotus Light Temple where Santa and elves of Lotus Light Charity Society presents a big surprise for Executive Director of SOS Children’s Village Surrey, Mr. Douglas Dunn.
At 10am, Douglas stared at the Buddhist shrine with awe to admire fascinating golden statues while he awaits to meet President of Lotus Light Charity Society Vancouver, Master Lian Tzi. With sincere respect, Douglas with his palms together, greets Master.
“We are happy to present wonderful Xmas gifts to all kids and youths of SOS,” said Master. “Thanks Master. Your gifts not just physically lets them see their Xmas wishlist come true, but show them that in this world, a not related person is saying ‘I Love You’ to them which is very meaningful to their lives,” expressed by Douglas. “These gifts are not only from our charity. They are also from our volunteers, businesses and friends. LLCS will continue to help your children’s village in the future.” Piled up in front of shrine is a mountain of new toys, gift cards (Sephora, American Eagle, Sportschek, EB Games Store, Tim Horton’s), Silvercity Cineplex movie gift tickets, Heaven is for Real book, new bed sheets, pillows, pillow cases, fleece vests, shampoo, body lotion, soaps, laundry detergent, iron boards (1 for each house), digital cameras, pencils, key chains, snacks, make-up, and much more! LLCS indeed has made a very special Xmas for SOS Children’s Village Surrey! Lotus Light Charity Society is a registered non-profit in Vancouver with over 95 chapters across the globe.
LLCS’s most successful winter project is Annual Winter Charity Drive where over 1,400 new winter care packages are delivered to the hands of homeless through joint partnerships with Vancouver Police Department, BC Ambulance Services and City of Vancouver’s Homeless Shelters Program on an annual basis. At beginning of this month, 100 new sleeping bags and 350 winter care packages were distributed at front charity office to homeless on 347 E. Hastings St. and also as a quick response to extreme cold weather alerts, 75 sleeping bags and hundreds of shampoo and lotions were donated to Covenant House, Direction Youth Services and Union Gospel Mission. LLCS is extremely thankful to all corporate sponsors, volunteers, and contributors!
