Mr. Starbucks – A Nice Nickname and the Recognition to Lotus Light’s Food Recovery Efforts

Lotus Light Food Recovery program collaborates with restaurants, supermarkets, grocery stores, food warehouse and food manufactories and rescues tens thousand pounds of valuable food to support vulnerable groups in our community.

One of the major food recovery collaborator is Second Harvest – Canada’s largest food rescue organization. Through the Second Harvest network, Lotus Light Food Recovery program volunteers sign up with many supermarkets and restaurants to rescue food and supports community programs. One of the major restaurant chains Lotus Light collaborated is Starbucks. Lotus Light volunteers go to Starbucks’ branches,  pick up and deliver fresh sandwiches and snacks to local distribution hub, food truck serving homeless and shelters. Aboriginal Front Door Society is a frequent food recipient of Lotus Light’s program. Every week volunteers deliver three to four times of valuable to food to help their food truck and the shelter. The counter receptionist at Aboriginal Front Door happily calls our volunteer Mr. Starbucks – a friendly nickname for the recognition of Lotus Light’s food recovery effort to help needed people in the community.
