Spooky ghosts and pumpkins are not the only idols of Halloween! Fresh, hot asian foods were the highlights of Halloween’s lunch time at Oppenheimer Park on Powell St. Sponsored by Continental Seafood Asian Restaurant, volunteers picked up 200 hot lunches from Continental that same morning and delivered straight into the heart of DTES on Oct 31st where a line-up of homeless already started. LLCS volunteers quickly set up lunch tables to place all 200 lunch rice boxes including a large tank of hot beverage! Asian food menu in this October month’s Feed Meals to Homeless Project is: Sweet & Sour Pork, Sliced Beef Fried Rice, Spicy Ma Po Tofu Rice and Fried Boneless Chicken & Celery Rice.
Light rain did not stop the warm hearts of eager volunteers to serve meals to homeless. With compassion and patience, each volunteer served foods and drinks with a warm smile. Many compliments were received from the homeless, too.
Thank you to Continental Seafood Asian Restaurant for making this Halloween day an important one for homeless of our charity’s neighbourhood!
