LLCS Continues the “Hot Meal for Homeless” Program in 2017
Thanks to New Town Bakery and Donald Market Sponsoring the January Food Event
On the chilly afternoon of Jan. 14, 2017, Lotus Light Charity Society once again provided warm lunch meals to the homeless and underprivileged of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside as part of the Charity’s ongoing monthly project in 2017.
This month’s event, people lined up earlier for the free lunch meals, as in the past two years for the homeless. The homeless and impoverished in the community are already familiar with the monthly program provided by LLCS. The options consisted of either vegetable stir-fried noodles in soy sauce or cup noodles, served with luncheon meat, fruit, cheese buns, snacks, and juice. Master Lian Tzi, the president of Lotus Light Charity Society, personally chose this lunch combination to introduce variety into the meal options we provide, and compliment the hearty meals with treats of chips and Mountain Mix nuts. The recipients were able to enjoy a hot meal due to the time dedicated by volunteers, and the continuous generosity of our community sponsors: New Town Bakery & Restaurant (148 East Pender Street, Van), Donald’s Market (2332 E Hastings St, Van) , Save-On-Foods, Nester Market Yale Town, and Terra Breads Bakery Olympics Village.
The Hot Meal for Homeless program were launched under the guidance of president, Master Lian tzi, to supplies free lunch meals to homeless each month at Oppenheimer Park of DTES Vancouver in 2015, more than 6000 people have enjoyed the free lunch meals in our community since the initiated of the program.
The Charity’s Meals for the Homeless Program will continue once a month at the Oppenheimer Park throughout 2017. We welcome donations of any amount to support the lives of the homeless and impoverished. Donations can be made via PayPal or credit card at our website.
