On Monday morning this week, a large delivery truck stocked full of brand new children’s clothing was quietly unloaded at the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau’s warehouse by a small group of volunteers led by Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver)’s President.
“All our stuff is going out in two weeks. We are shipping 50,000 toys to our sixteen local bureaus and associate family service organizations. Thanks to the generosity in our neighbourhood, Master Lian Tzi and Lotus Light Charity Society,” said Chris Bayliss, Executive Director of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.
“Lotus Light Charity Society is so happy to start our Winter Giving campaign to share the joys of giving this year. A Christmas miracle has made it possible for this large clothing donation for kids to find its way to our new partner, the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau (LMCB). I believe Chris and his organization will help us fulfil our dream to help low income families and their children. And to share the Christmas spirit, the joy of giving, with our donors, supporters and all of us,” said Buddhist Master Lian Tzi, President of Lotus Light Charity.
Lotus Light’s 2017 Annual Winter Charity Drive event will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 2:00pm to provide gifts of hope to benefit impoverished residents and the homeless in the Lower Mainland. Approximately 50,000 items of winter wear (toques, scarves, gloves, socks), non-perishable food, personal hygiene products and new sleeping bags will be donated and distributed through our community partners including Vancouver Police Department Homeless Outreach Program, BC Ambulances Services.
In the spirit of its motto “Through caring and learning, we help to build a better tomorrow” Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver) is a registered non-profit charity dedicated to helping the most vulnerable in our local community.
