LLCS Supports the Strathcona Emergency Food Hub

This past Friday, LLCS Food Rescue volunteers dropped off individual breakfast oatmeal packages and frozen food samples to the Strathcona Emergency Food Hub, the second food distribution event held at McLean Housing

Due to Covid-19, the unexpected closure of schools forced the Strathcona Backpack Program to be relocated. Instead of food distribution events taking place at the school, food is now distributed in social housing units a few blocks away.

Instead of serving the 200+ families of Strathcona school children, the Strathcona Emergency Food Hub is now focusing on serving all vulnerable people in the V6A postal code, most of which encompasses Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) area.

The LLCS is proud to be serving those who need our help and will continue to extend its services and programs to those in need. The LLCS thanks its volunteers, corporate and individual sponsors, and partner community service organizations for all their generosity and support in helping our programs run successfully.
