LLCS Launch Lotus Light Covid-19 Emergency Food Hub to Help Those in Need in the Community

Thanks to the Canadian Government Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF), the LLCS was able to receive financial support to launch a new Covid-19 Community Caring Drive program.

Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the lives of many vulnerable populations have changed drastically, including the lives of the elderly, the unemployed, new immigrants, and many low-income families.

To help those disproportionately impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the LLCS launched numerous Covid-19 relief programs in April 2020.

The Lotus Light Covid-19 Emergency Food Hub, one of the many new initiatives under this program, will be dedicated to helping community members in need. This initiative is a new emergency response program to help marginalized community members of the Downtown Eastside (DTES). This program will provide hampers and gift cards to support single parents and high school students from low-income families. This program will also provide free meals to help the homeless population of the DTES.

The LLCS Cares about Single Parents and would like to help those in need!

The LLCS will be piloting a new project (from January- March 2021) to support single parents during this incredibly challenging period. The program has been made possible through support from the Canadian Government and our partner organization, United Way Lower Mainland.

The LLCS will select recipients who will receive gift cards to purchase groceries and other necessities for their families.

We are currently accepting applications for January 2021 by email only at: llcs.care@gmail.com. The deadline for the application is Friday, December 11, 2020 @9 pm.

In the email, please provide a brief description of you and your family, why your family should be selected, and most importantly, your address. Due to the current situation, only selected recipients will be contacted and will receive gift cards through the regular postal system.

The Lotus Light Care program is a part of the Lotus Light Covid-19 Emergency Food Hub initiative, as described above.

Lotus Light Covid-19 Emergency Food Hub is a member of the United Way Food Hubs funded by the Government of Canada and administered by the United Way Lower Mainland.
