Lotus Light Welcomes 2021 with Community Caring

Goodbye 2020 and Happy New Year!

With the start of the new year, Light Light Charity Society is reflecting on the past few months while also welcoming 2021 with more community caring.

Over the holiday season, Lotus Light Charity Society donated more than 5,000 pounds of food to single-parent households, seniors homes, low-income families, and service organizations across Metro Vancouver. Donated items included frozen shrimp, chicken, potatoes, eggs, and sauces. Recipient organizations included Tri-City Moms Group, Fair Haven Homes Society, Canada Helpinghut Society, Southman Society, as well as low-income families in Coquitlam and Surrey.

Additionally, Lotus Light has also recently donated 3,000 bags of potato chips and 1,000 bottles of mineral water to a dozen community policing centers in Vancouver, including the Grandview-Woodland CPC and Collingwood CPC, so that officers can distribute the items to residents in the community who need help.

The Charity also donated a van-load of new baby products to the Aboriginal Mother Centre Society, an organization serving Aboriginal mothers and other vulnerable groups in the Downtown Eastside. Donated items included hundreds of snacks, blankets, mattresses, toothbrushes, feeding bottles, seat belts, bibs, bath mats, swimsuits, cups, forks, spoons, and toys.

Maura Gowans, Executive Director of the Aboriginal Mothers Centre Society, thanked Lotus Light Charity Society for the donations, and said, “You are amazing! Our single mothers will be very happy to receive so many baby items. Thank you for your support.”

Lotus Light Charity Society would like to thank our volunteers for their selfless dedication over the past year, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. We would also like to thank the generosity and support of our corporate and individual sponsors, and our community partner organizations, for supporting Lotus Light’s various programs and initiatives to help people in need in our community. Lotus Light wishes everyone a safe, healthy, and prosperous new year!

“Through learning and caring, we help to build a better tomorrow.”
