Lotus Light’s 2021 Annual Winter Charity Drive:
Sleeping Bags, Winter Care Packages to Vancouver’s Street Homeless
Public Appeal for Donations
Lotus Light Charity Society is actively collecting donations of NEW blankets, comforters, sleeping bags, clothing items (socks, underwear, t-shirts, sweat shirts, pants, jackets, scarves, gloves) and personal hygiene products for the street homeless and newly-homeless in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, some whom are trying to return to the work force and secure affordable housing.
On Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1:00pm, the Lotus Light 2021 Annual Winter Charity Drive will present to the representatives of the Vancouver Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Program and the BC Ambulance Service and low income family assistance groups and schools representatives from the Downtown Eastside with donations of winter care items. At 1:30pm, a public distribution of winter care packages will be given to street homeless in front of Lotus Light Charity Society, 347 E. Hastings Street, Vancouver.
Lotus Light welcomes our community partners, sponsors, volunteers and local media partners to attend this annual community caring event!
“The greatest thing we can do is to help someone in need. Let’s work together to bring warmth and hope to help the homeless survive the cold this winter,” said Buddhist Master Lian Tzi, President of Lotus Light.
The Lotus Light 2021 Annual Winter Charity Drive, now in its 26th year, relies on financial and in-kind donations from individuals and corporate supporters. This year’s campaign continues our annual distribution of hundreds of sleeping bags and emergency care packages in partnership with local shelters and family service agencies throughout the Lower Mainland.
