Spreading Warmth and Hope: Lotus Light Donates Fresh Buns and Burgers to Aboriginal Food Truck to Feed the Homeless

Since the December 2024, Lotus Light Charity Society volunteers have been delivering fresh buns, juicy burger patties, hearty lunch boxes, and sweet fruits every week to the Aboriginal Front Door Society’s food truck — bringing nourishment and comfort to our homeless community.
“Thank you so much — our clients love the food,” said Anna, the dedicated volunteer who operates the food truck, beaming with gratitude.

This ongoing support is powered by the Lotus Light Food Recovery Program, in collaboration with Fortuna Bakery of Burnaby and A&W Restaurant Metrotown. Through these partnerships, Lotus Light is able to rescue high-quality food from being wasted — collecting donations from food recovery networks, local supermarkets and grocery stores, warehouses, producers, distributors, and restaurants.

In 2024 alone, the program successfully rescued over 90,000 pounds of nutritious food, preventing it from ending up in landfills and instead feeding more than a thousand vulnerable families across Metro Vancouver.

And there’s even more good news! Starting January 2025, Lotus Light has welcomed Sweet Thea Bakery as a new food recovery partner, bringing fresh pastries and bread to even more people in need.

Together, we can build a more caring, compassionate community.
Lotus Light invites all kind-hearted individuals to join us as volunteers and help brighten the lives of the disadvantaged.
