Lotus Light Charity Society Successfully Hosts Free Tax Clinic for 2024 Tax Season
The Lotus Light Charity Society has successfully completed its annual two-month free tax filing service for the 2024 tax season, assisting low-income seniors, persons with disabilities, families receiving social assistance, students, and new immigrants.
Each year, Lotus Light organizes a Free Income Tax Clinic in partnership with the CRA Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). This initiative helps local seniors, low-income residents, students, and newcomers to Canada prepare and submit their income tax documents to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
This year, Lotus Light welcomed two new volunteers, Cindy and Stella, who played a key role in supporting the Free Tax Clinic. They greeted clients warmly and assisted them patiently throughout the process. Many attendees at the clinic are long-time clients who return year after year. <B>”I love your service!” said Kola after receiving help with his tax filing.
The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program is especially valuable for seniors living in care homes, often far from family support. Newcomers to Canada also find the clinic incredibly helpful as they navigate a tax system that may be unfamiliar to them. This year, the clinic assisted over a hundred disadvantaged residents in filing their taxes for the 2024 tax season.
