Every Friday, Evan Reeks, the Chef and Managing Director of Heart Tattoos Society will come to Lotus Light Charity Society with his big van to pick up donation for DTES Distribution Hub, a community food distribution centre aims to help the vulnerable residents in DTES community.
Evan has collaborated with Lotus Light’s Food Recovery Program since Fall 2021, distributed tens thousand pounds of valuable food to help DTES vulnerable residents to combat food insecurity.
DTES Distribution Hub was established in 2020 as an Emergency Supply Hub when many Downtown Eastside low-income families, residents, SRO seniors living alone and homeless facing urgent food security issue during the peak of COVID 19 pandemic. Since then tens thousands of food have been distributed to help vulnerable residents. Although the COVID is already over for many years, but the Hub is still distributing food and resource to help the community.
