Highlights of Lotus Light Charity Society Community and Charitable Activities:

Through caring and learning we help to build a better tomorrow

Under the guidance of president Master Lian Tzi, 2016 has been another extraordinarily year for the Lotus Light Charity Society: from the successful “Toys for Syrian Refugee Children” campaign and warm welcome party for the Syrian refugee children and their families to the current “Winter Charity Drive 2016” campaign, the Charity actively involved in its humanitarian missions to help the needy.

Charity Contributions in 2016:

2016    LLCS donated a total of 20,000 Lbs of rice in 2016 to the Greater Vancouver Society in the Annual Rice Donation program to support the low income families in our community.

2016    LLCS continued the Feed Hot Meal to Homeless program to provide warm meal to the homeless community at Oppenheimer Park of DTES Vancouver once a month through the 2016 whole year. The program is highly praised by the DTES community, and more than 2,500 impoverished individuals benefited.

2016    LLCS donated Christmas gifts and household items to BC SOS Children’s Village

2016    LLCS donated toys and education materials to Britannia elementary school.

2016    LLCS Winter Charity Drive 2016 donated and distributed over 1,000 care packages and 1,000 sleeping bags and 500 free lunch meals to help the homeless and impoverished residents throughout the lower mainland, through the collaboration with community partners in lower mainland. Over 30,000 items donated.

2016    LLCS Children Nutrient Backpack program supported the inner city children by donating grocery products weekly to the Strathcona Community Centre Food Security Program, and donating to the Queen Alexandra Elementary School’s Wishing Tree program and Seymour Elementary School’s Backpack Buddy program.

2016    LLCS National Scholarship program awarded 6 students who are outstanding in academic performance and actively involved in community volunteers works to pursue post-secondary study.

2016    LLCS Mu-Shu Lee Memorial Scholarship donated $4,000 to support students in Social Works, Education, Pharmaceutical Science and Medicine Science in UBC. 6 outstanding students received awards in 2016.

2016    LLCS donated USD$10,000 to SYL Foundation, Lotus Scholarship Program 2016-2017 Academic year

2016    LLCS invited the foster children and their foster parents from BC SOS Children Village to the Mother’s Day Charity BBQ, donated gifts and large amount of house hold items.

2016    LLCS successfully raised 3,500 new toys, and education materials in Toys for Syrian Refugee Children campaign, organized a warm welcome party for Syrian refugee families and children with a special presentation of toys, gifts and household essentials. Over 200 attendees joined the event.

2016    LLCS continued holding free ESL Classes and free Tax Return Filing Service to help new immigrants and low-income residents.
