Lotus Light Initiate Food Recovery Program to Benefit the Needed
Donated Thousands of lbs of Frozen Food to Charities
Earlier this month, the Lotus Light Charity Society (LLCS) initiated the Food Recovery Program for the Homeless and Impoverished of Lower Mainland and Beyond Program. By collaborating with food warehouse networks, food distributors, and food producers, the charity will distribute surplus or mislabeled foods to community organizations serving local homeless and impoverished residents in need.
From late September to early October, LLCS volunteers donated over 2,000 lbs of food (valued at over $30,000) to six charities and organizations across the lower mainland. Some recipients included Loving Spoonful, the Ray-Cam Co-operative Center, the Triage Shelter’s Kitchen, Atira Women’s Resource Society, the Gathering Place Community Center, and the Daily Bread Food Bank in Ontario.
For the last 25 years, the LLCS has proudly served our community’s most vulnerable residents, including low-income families, children, seniors, and the homeless. The LLCS will continue to help community members in need and we welcome any generous donations and support throughout the year to bring hope to local community members struggling for a brighter future.
