Lotus Light Covid-19 Community Caring Drive Distribute 50,000 pounds of Food in One Week to help the Needy across Lower Mainland

On Wednesday, June 24, Lotus Light will collaborates with 13 different community partners to deliver 60 pallets, totalling 35,000 pounds of veggie spring rolls and pork dumplings donated by Fine Choice Foods, to help affected families and individuals across the Metro Vancouver. On June 23, Lotus Light has already distributed more than 5,000 pounds of yogurt donated by CSD Richmond Warehouse to help needed families and individuals.

This Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 1pm, Lotus Light again will distribute produce hampers in the park lot of Britannia Community Center (1661 Napier Street, Vancouver) to families and individuals affected by the Pandemic. The bi-weekly hamper distribution is supported by 5 largest Vancouver produce wholesaler: Fresh Point, Fresh Direct, Discovery Organics, Produce Terminal and Van-Whole, and Real Canada Superstore (Grandview Highway).

The hamper distribution will continue receiving helps from Strathcona Community Policing Center (SCPC), Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Center (GWCPC), Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Center (VACPC), Chinese Community Policing (CCPC), and many other volunteer groups. A large donation was held this week, and 50,000 pounds of food were donated to help people in the epidemic.

Since April, the Charity has launched a Covid-19 relief project: Lotus Light Covid-19 Community Caring Drive to help low-income families, the elderly, the unemployed, migrant workers, and many families and individuals affected by the pandemic. In nearly three months, with numerous foods distribution activities helped by various food assistance groups and community partner volunteers, benefitted struggling people across Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley: DTES, East Vancouver, South Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey, Langley, Pitt Meadows, Mission, etc. the relief activities have cumulatively distributed over 170,000 pounds of food helping the needy across lower mainland.

LLCS Covid-19 Community Caring Drive is accepting monetary and in-kind donations from individuals and corporate sponsors to help the needy. Tax receipts are available for donations of $20 or more.
