Lotus Light Donates 4,000 gift items to Inner City School to celebrate the Mother’s Day

To support students from low-income families, Lotus Light Children Assistance Plan donated gift cards, household items and foods to five inner-city schools before the Mother’s Day.

On April 26, Lotus Light Charity Society held a donation presentation at Lotus Light Activity Hall to representatives of inner-city school student assistance program. Schools received donation including Seymour Elementary, Britannia Elementary, Thundbird Elementary, Grandview Elementary and Templeton Secondary. Mr. Floyd Wong, Vice President, Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver), Director of Glitter Woods Investments Ltd presented the 2022 Spring CAP donation to Stephanie DiGiacomo, Neighbourhood Assistant of Britannia Elementary and Janey Lee, Teacher at Thunderbird Elementary. Lotus Light Children Assistance Plan Team, Linda, Gia, Ada Jang, Danny and Tim attended the presentation.

Lotus Light Children Assistance Plan (CAP) program is derived from many programs and initiatives since 2013 to support students from low-income family in our inner-city schools. The Children Nutrient Backpack program, has been donating grocery foods weekly to the Strathcona Community Centre’s Children Food Security program since 2013. And over 22,000 lbs of grocery foods has been donated to the program and other inner-city schools between 2013 – 2020. The program is expanded to hamper initiatives for inner city schools during the COVID-19 Pandemic, over 1,700 hampers with household items and foods have been distributed to students from low income families since 2020. In 2021, the “Lotus Light Care: gift cards for low – income student families program” and the new Children Assistance Plan had donated a total of $8,500 value gift cards to low income students in eight schools in the Vancouver School District.
