Lotus Light Donates 5,000 lbs of rice to Greater Vancouver Food Bank to Help Needy People

Lotus Light Annual Rice Donation Program raises funds and donates rice to local food banks and other community organizations in honor of the charity’s founder, Buddhist Grand Master Lu’s birthday.

On June 16, 2022, Lotus Light donated 5,000 lbs of rice to support Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Kevin Tay, a Greater Vancouver Food Bank representative, received the rice donation and presented a certificate to Master Lian Tzi, president of Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver).

Over the last 26 years, the Lotus Light Annual Rice Donation Program has contributed over 350,000 pounds of rice to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and other community service organizations in honor of the charity’s founder, Buddhist Grand Master Lu’s birthday. The program has benefitted more than 100,000 families.

“We must help those who suffer in disasters, those who have no shelter, those who shiver without clothes, and we must offer food to those who are hungry,” a direct quote from the founder of the Lotus Light Charity Society, Buddhist Grand Master Living Buddha Lian Sheng.

Lotus Light Covid-19 Community Caring Drive will continue partnering with corporative sponsors, food warehouses, local food assistance groups, and food distribution hubs to help those in need in our community. We continue to collect Lotus Light Rice funds throughout the year and welcome anyone who contributes to this endeavor.
