Lotus Light Mother’s Day Gift: Thousands of Tubs of Yogurt for Schoolchildren

On Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, the Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver) donated 1,000 tubs of Olympic Greek Yogurt to Thunderbird Elementary and Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Elementary Schools as a special gift from schoolchildren to their mothers. Students and parents who received the donation happily showed the yogurt tubs to volunteers and expressed their heartfelt gratitude.

According to volunteers from the charity, elementary schools in Vancouver’s East End have the highest concentration of students from low-income families. Many students rely on school food programs for their daily lunch meals and weekend food hampers/backpacks to help meet their nutritional needs. School-aged children are in a critical stage of healthy development, and access to nutritious food is essential.

To enhance the nutritional variety in school food hampers, Lotus Light Charity Society established the Children Assistance Plan years ago, providing schoolchildren with a consistent supply of healthy and nutritious foods. One of the regular initiatives under this plan involves partnering with large food companies to donate yogurt. This is the second yogurt donation of the year, and it has been enthusiastically welcomed by both students and parents.

We invite kind-hearted individuals from all walks of life to support our program through monetary or in-kind donations. The healthy growth of children is vital to the future of our society. Your support is deeply appreciated.
