2026 New Year’s Day Lotus Light Charity Donation: Dedicating Merits to Praying for Guru Buddha to Remain in the World
On January 1, the first day of 2026, Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver) responded to the call of the True Buddha Foundation and participated in the Global True Buddha School Online Amitayus Buddha Feast Offering Ceremony for Praying for Guru Buddha to Remain in the World and for world peace.
On the following day, volunteers donated nearly 3,000 pounds of food and 240 meal boxes from the ceremony to local community service organizations, low-income charities, homeless shelters, and senior housing facilities. Through this charitable action, Lotus Light not only provided nourishing meals to disadvantaged communities to celebrate the New Year, but also delivered the Buddha’s compassion, blessings, and loving care.
All merits from this activity are respectfully dedicated to the “Praying for Guru Buddha to Remain in the World Feast Offering Ceremony” on New Year’s Day 2026, with sincere prayers for the Guru Buddha’s well-being, longevity, and the continued propagation of the True Buddha Dharma.
The recipients of this donation included Aboriginal Front Door Society (homeless shelter and food truck service), Watari Counselling Service (SRO Senior Tenant Service), and the DTES Distribution Hub (low-income resident distribution center). The donated food included a wide variety of Chinese and Western dishes, such as sandwiches, salads, spaghetti with ground beef, steamed rice with beef stew, sausage with vegetables, as well as frozen salmon, ham and beef patties, fresh produce and fruits, dry foods, snacks and crackers, noodles, cream and sauces, jams and pickles, breads, donuts, and croissants.
When volunteers delivered the lunch boxes to Watari Senior Tenant Service, they greeted the staff and wished them a Happy New Year. The Watari volunteer warmly responded, “Xin Nian Kuai Le!” (Happy New Year in Chinese), which they had just learned from the Lotus Light volunteers. The atmosphere was joyful, warm, and harmonious. Charity, generosity, and kindness know no bounds. We sincerely pray for world peace, national prosperity, favorable conditions, and happiness for all beings.
