Lotus Light is Happy to Support Capilano Students
This Wednesday, Daniel, a student coordinator from Enactus at Capilano University, visited the Lotus Light headquarters to pick up a food donation for low-income students. Lotus Light is collaborating with the Project Hastings group to distribute this food in the student union building.
Project Hastings is a youth volunteer group led by students dedicated to helping vulnerable community members. They have partnered with Lotus Light on many occasions, including the annual Lotus Light Community Caring Day in the summer and the Winter Charity Drive, which support vulnerable residents in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) community.
Capilano University is primarily a commuter school. A majority of its students live across the Greater Vancouver area, in cities like Delta and Surrey, where the commute to campus can take hours. To make these long journeys, students often sacrifice important meals. By skipping meals, commuting students miss out on the essential nutrients and calories needed to focus on their studies. While there are on-site options like the cafeteria, the food can be both unaffordable and unhealthy.
