As Vancouverites bundle up for another frosty winter, the Lotus Light Charity Society is pleased to once again support the Vancouver Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Program, the BC Ambulance Service, and the city of Vancouver’s HEAT Program.
On Sunday, December 7th, 2014 at 2:30pm, the Vancouver branch of the Lotus Light Charity Society presented to the representatives of the Vancouver Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Program and the BC Ambulance Service with a donation of 150 sleeping bags and 1050 winter care packages, in addition to a public distribution of 350 winter care packages and 100 new sleeping bags directly to the homeless at Lotus Light Charity’s head office, 347 E. Hastings Street, Vancouver.

Master Lian Tzi thanks to all the community partners, sponsors and volunteers for supporting Lotus Light Charity Society’s mission of providing warmth, comfort and hope to thousands of people in need in our local community during the cold winter season. Lotus Light Charity is proud to serve our local community for the past 20 years. And we had been fortunate to have much support from our special community partners. Together, we can make a genuine difference in the lives of so many impoverished individuals, families and seniors throughout the Lower Mainland.
Constable Ali Gailus, coordinator of VPD Homeless Outreach Program, shared with us a story when she worked with the strathcona unit last year. With one of the sleeping bag donated by Lotus Light Charity Society, she was able to break the communication barrier and to be friend with a homeless fella, and get him in door into one of those community.
Anthony Siedslag, Paramedic Chief of Vancouver, BC Ambulance Service said:”Although a sleeping bag may not be very significant, the over all of the community that truly do care for their welfare is important. Sometime my crew just get them something, and it’s already a huge blessing for them.”
Councillor Kerry Jang, on behalf of Mayor Greg Robinson, expressed thanks to everyone participating such wonderful event to help the homeless. and thanks for the charity works Lotus light charity Society has done to help the homeless.

The Lotus Light 2014 Winter Charity Drive, now in its 19th year, relies on financial and in-kind donations from individuals and corporate supporters to continue its campaign to distribute sleeping bags and emergency care packages in partnership with local shelters and family service agencies throughout the Lower Mainland, including the British Columbia Ambulance Service.
