Lotus Light Charity Society Vancouver & Freshslice Global Head Office served hot pizzas to over 500 homeless this past Saturday August 22nd at Oppenheimer Park, heart of DTES.
Homeless cheered on as they lined up under the hot sun, waiting to choose 2 of 4 popular flavours. About 500 extra large slices of Hawaiian, Pepperoni, Cheese and Vegetarian pizzas were paired with soda pop.
Master Lian Tzi, President of Lotus Light Charity Society Vancouver and James, Vice President of Freshslice Global Head Office were quick in their hands to lead this very meaningful event.
Main reason to hold this event is to stop hunger in a stranger’s life. Someone who has practically nothing, but luckily from Lotus Light Charity Society’s monthly Feed Meals to Homeless Project, homeless arrive on time each month on specified Saturdays to eat sponsored meals from sponsors like Pink Pearl Asian Restaurant, Red Star Asian Restaurant, Prince Asian Restaurant, Continental Seafood Asian Restaurants and more. Not just foods but lotions and sunglasses are also for grabs at the end of line-ups!
A big round of applause from the homeless echoed throughout Oppenheimer Park to extend their sincere thanks to a local charity and pizza company who cares!
