LLCS Supports Red Cross Canada Alberta Fires Appeal
On May 31, 2016, Volunteers of the Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver) presented $2,000 to Red Cross Canada to support the Alberta Fire Appeal to help the Fort McMurray wildfire victims in northern Alberta. Red Cross Canada appreciate Lotus Light’s support.
In earlier May, a massive wildfire swept through Fort McMurray and surrounding area, triggering the largest fire evacuation in Alberta’s history, tens of thousands of people forced from their homes. 2,000 houses in Fort McMarry have been destroyed by the wildfires. As concerning toxic chemicals many people still could not go back to their home. LLCS Vancouver volunteers started the Fort McMurray Relief Drive campaign to help the Fort McMarry fire victims in commercial centres and shopping mall Yaohan Centre Richmond, Kam Do Bakery, Richmond Centre, Starbucks Broadway/Cambie St. The $2,000 raised has been transferred to Red Cross Canada Alberta Fire Appeal which will be matched by our Canada Government.
