On Saturday August 13, Vancouver Lotus Light Charity Society’s monthly Meals for the Homeless event took place at our usual venue, the Oppenheimer Park. This was our 8th Meals event of the year.
On this beautiful summer afternoon, despite the scorching sun, over 300 people lined up for an appetizing lunch menu with an amazing variety. This included sweet and sour pork chops, special fried pork chops, Cambodian ginger fried chicken, Cambodian style fried rice, Yang Chow fried rice and soy sauce fried noodles. The credit of this specially crafted menu goes to the President of VLLCS Master Lian Tzi, who tailor made this menu herself. Thoughtfully to beat the heat, a refreshing cup of fresh brewed ice tea and a bottle of water was included.
For this month’s Meals event, we were honored and privileged to have four existing sponsoring restaurants contributing at the same time. Each supplying an amount of food generous enough to provide a delicious and satisfying meal to hundreds. A tremendous thanks to our sponsors Vincent of Ferry Market, Ken of Ken’s Restaurant, Robert of Kent’s Kitchen Chinatown and Tony of Phnom Penh Cambodian Restaurant. We are extremely grateful for their continuous crucial support.
An extensive appreciation also go to the volunteers of VLLCS who worked tirelessly in the heat to deliver yet another successful Meals event. The event ended with happy and content faces from people who joined, who showed great patience and appreciation.
