LLCS Covid-19 Community Caring Drive Distributes 50,000 lbs of Food in One Week to Help Those in Need Across the Lower Mainland

On June 24, the LLCS will collaborate with thirteen community partner organizations to deliver 60 pallets (35,000 lbs) of veggie spring rolls and pork dumplings donated by Fine Choice Foods to low-income families and individuals across metro Vancouver. On June 23, the LLCS distributed 5000+ lbs of yogurt donated by the CSD Richmond Warehouse to help families and individuals in need.

On June 25 at 1 pm, the LLCS will distribute produce hampers to families impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic from the parking lot of Britannia Community Center. The bi-weekly hamper distribution program is supported by six large Vancouver produce wholesalers: Fresh Point, Fresh Direct, Discovery Organics, Produce Terminal, Van-Whole, and the Real Canadian Superstore (@Grandview Highway).

The hamper distribution will continue to receive help from volunteers at the Strathcona Community Policing Center (SCPC), the Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Center (GWCPC), the Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Center (VACPC), and the Chinese Community Policing Center (CCPC).

A large donation was held this week and 50,000 lbs of food were donated to help people struggling throughout the pandemic.

In April 2020, the charity launched the Lotus Light Covid-19 Community Caring Drive to help low-income families, the elderly, the unemployed, migrant workers, the homeless, and others disadvantaged by the pandemic. In nearly three months, the project has distributed over 170,000 lbs of food to help struggling people in many cities across metro Vancouver, including Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey, Langley, Pitt Meadows, and Mission. The LLCS was able to initiate these programs with assistance from partner community service organizations, food assistance groups, and food distributors.

The LLCS would like to thank its volunteers, corporate and individual sponsors, and partner community service organizations for supporting our Covid-19 relief programs.

The LLCS Covid-19 Community Caring Drive is currently accepting monetary and in-kind donations from individuals and corporate sponsors to help the needy.
