After the recent urgent Heat Wave Emergency water and snacks distributions to help vulnerable in the DTES community, Lotus Light volunteers are busy again this week. A total of 7,000 lbs of foods and drinks are distributed to help community organizations and low-income families.

On August 23 and 24, Lotus Light volunteers organized three food distributions total 7,000 lbs of much needed foods to help people in need in the community. Donation items includes premium yogurt, bottled Jasmine Honey Tea and frozen waffles breakfast. A dozen of community service organizations and groups including Chinese Community Policing Centre, Strathcona Food Hub, Belkin House, Union Gospel Mission, Salvation Army Bounderless Vancouver, Coquitlam Food Rescue, DTES Distribution Hub, Aboriginal Front Door Society, Covenant House, and UBC Sprouts Student Food Co-op received the donation and hundreds of low-income families and residents benefited.

Lotus Light Children Assistance Plan is raising non-perishable foods, household items and cleaning supplies for distribution to inner-city schools to help students of low-income families when schools opened in September.
