Lotus Light donates 1,000 boxes of hot meals to community kitchens during Easter Week

Easter Week, which takes place between April 3 and 10, 2023, and the Qing Ming Festival, which takes place on April 5 and is when Chinese people remember their ancestors, fall on the same week. More than a thousand boxes of hot meals prepared by Lotus Light have been distributed to community kitchens and low-income family care agencies in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

During Ching Ming Festival and Easter week, Lotus Light Charity Kitchen gathered volunteers to cook delicious hot food with different Chinese and Western dishes every day and donated it to low-income seniors living in social housing and to community kitchens serving the vulnerable in DTES communities. A total of more than 1,000 boxes were donated in a week, and hundreds of people benefited.

Volunteers of Lotus Light are now actively preparing for the Mother’s Day donation project in May, including donating gifts to inner-city schools in east Vancouver and distributing hot meals to unhoused residents and other vulnerable groups in the community. Lotus Light welcomes monetary and in-kind donations from generous individual and corporate sponsors to support our programs. A tax receipt will be issued for sponsorships of $20 or more. Donations can also be made via PayPal or credit card on Lotus Light’s website (www.vllcs.org).
