Preparing Freshly-Made and Nutritious Meals for the Local Vulnerable Residents

In the middle of August 2023, Vancouverites experienced the hottest weather of the year, especially the unhoused who are constantly exposed to the blazing sun. During this heatwave that can render someone delirious from heat alone, Lotus Light Charity Society felt the need to give a helping hand to the struggling local DTES residents by ensuring they had easy access to nutritious meals.

For six consecutive days and with a total of 10 volunteers, Lotus Light Charity Society prepared an abundant and nutritious assortment of food using produce personally grown in Lotus Light’s vegetable garden, as well as ingredients graciously donated to us by our partners and supporters. Seven trays of food were prepared each day, each one different from one day to the next, ensuring a diverse variety of options throughout the week. The local groups that received these meals expressed their utmost gratitude for Lotus Light’s generosity with huge smiles on their faces.

We are extremely proud of the volunteers who selflessly invested their time and effort to contribute to this difficult task, embracing the idea that a good deed is its own reward. We are also very grateful for the donations we received from our kind-hearted supporters who made this all possible in the first place.

For those interested in volunteering or contributing, you can visit the Lotus Light Charity Society website at www.vllcs.org, or contact us at Tel: 604-685-5548, or email us at llcsvancouver@gmail.com.
