Lotus Light Charity Society Ranked as Number One of the Top Six Best Charities in Vancouver
In February 2023, the Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver) was ranked first on the list of “Top Six Best Charities in Vancouver” curated by the Best Vancouver website (http://thebestvancouver.com). The second to sixth places are respectively S.U.C.C.E.S.S Foundation, A Loving Spoonful, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, Make-A-Wish, and Backpack Buddies.
The four criteria used to assess each charity were “Programs and Activities”, “Accessibility”, “Variety”, and “Location”, which looks at the broadness and impact of their activities, how transparent the charity is with their activities, and how easy it is to donate and volunteer. Lotus Light was ranked as the number one charity in Vancouver in these prospects.
Founded in 1993 at the downtown eastside Vancouver (DTES) by Buddhist Grant Master H.H. Living Buddha Lian-Sheng, Lotus Light Charity Society aims to promote a stronger community from its motto “through caring and learning, we help to build a better tomorrow” and is committed to help to help people in need, especially the vulnerable groups in DTES community with its humanitarian missions (social assistance, education advancement, medical assistance, and cultural awareness)
For 30 years, Lotus Light Charity Society has displayed strong commitment to the betterment of our community through numerous charitable programs and events. Over these years, Lotus Light has received public recognition of their efforts on many occasions, including the BC Community Achievement Award to the organization’s President Master Lian Tzi in 2017, the annual proclamation of Lotus Light Community Caring Day since 2017, and nomination for the Frontline Impact Award in Second Harvest’s 2023 Food Rescue Awards.
Currently, Lotus Light is running its annual winter charity event, on December 16, 2023, Lotus Light Winter Charity Drive 2023 will distribute 1,000 Care Packages, food and household supplies to help low-income families and unhoused residents in our community. We welcome monetary and in-kind donations from generous individual and corporate sponsors from all walks to support our program. You may sponsor a Sleeping Bag and Care Package combo for $50, or a Care Package for $20. Donation over $20 will be issued Tax receipt.
