Lotus Light Distributes more than 2000 lbs of Nutrient Yogurt to Combat Food Insecurity
Olympic Organic Yogurt is launching its online donation campaign once again, pledging to donate premium Organic Greek Yogurt to Canada’s food banks as part of the ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity. The campaign is scheduled to run from October 17 to December 17. For every social media share of the campaign videos during this period, Olympic Organic Yogurt commits to donating one tub of 650g yogurt to food banks in BC and Ontario.
This year, Olympic has renewed its partnership with the Lotus Light Charity Society, and on December 4, Lotus Light received the first batch of yogurt out of two, totaling 1560 tubs, amounting to more than 2,200 lbs of organic vanilla Greek yogurt. As a significant part of the charity’s 30th-year anniversary celebration, Lotus Light has donated this batch of yogurt to local inner-city elementary schools and community support organizations. The elementary schools donated to are Xpey’ Elementary School, Seymour Elementary School, Grandview Elementary School, Britannia Elementary School, and Thunderbird Elementary School.
“We are so grateful for your support for our Thunderbird School Community” – Janey Lee, teacher at Thunderbird Elementary School.
Lotus Light’s Children Assistance Plan (CAP) program, focusing on supporting financially disadvantaged students through various donations such as food, school supplies, and gift cards, makes the recipients of the yogurt donations ideal candidates. Elementary school students are sure to enjoy this delicious and nutritious cold dairy snack, while their parents will appreciate the numerous health benefits of Olympic’s organic yogurt. Lotus Light actively seeks opportunities to enhance the diets of financially disadvantaged students, and this substantial supplement to their meals is especially crucial during the current cost-of-living crisis, conveniently timed for the holiday season.
Lotus Light also made donations to the Strathcona Community Centre, where the yogurt will help supply their food programs. Lastly, a substantial quantity of yogurt was donated to longtime community partner DTES Distribution Hub, an active and prominent support organization dedicated to helping low-income families and individuals in DTES Vancouver.
Lotus Light expresses deep gratitude for this generous donation and extends warm thanks to Olympic for their support in addressing food insecurity.
