Lotus Light Rice Donation to Community Food Bank

Food banks across Canada are grappling with increasing demands as more people seek assistance from non-profit organizations to combat food insecurity caused by inflation, rising food and housing costs, and precarious employment situations.

Just before Christmas, the Lotus Light Charity Society’s annual rice donation program contributed 5,000 lbs of rice to CityReach Care Society, a local community food bank, as part of Lotus Light’s Winter Charity Drive. This generous donation brings the total rice contribution for the year to 45,000 lbs, benefitting the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and various community organizations.

This rice donation played a pivotal role in the 2023 winter donation campaign, commemorating the Lotus Light Charity Society’s 30th anniversary. The goal was to share the joy of achieving this significant milestone with the community during the winter holiday season.

Lotus Light’s Annual Rice Donation program has now contributed over 380,000 pounds of rice to local food banks and other community organizations, positively impacting more than 100,000 families over 28 years.
