Congratulations to Master Lian Tzi for Being Awarded the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal

On December 13, 2024, Ms. Jenny Kwan, Member of Parliament for Vancouver East, presented the King Charles III Coronation Medals to 20 outstanding community members at the Chinatown Storytelling Centre. This is the first time a coronation medal has been awarded in Canada. The King Charles III Coronation Medal is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada, a particular province, territory, region, or community of Canada, or who have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

This time, a total of 20 outstanding community members from the Vancouver East riding, who have made significant contributions in various fields in the community, received this award. Among them, Vajra Master Lian Tzi, President of the Lotus Light Charity Society (Vancouver), was nominated and received the award in the community service category.

The World Lotus Light Charity Society was founded in 1993 in Downtown Eastside Vancouver by H.H. Living Buddha Lian-sheng. As the first President of the Lotus Light Charity Society, Master Lian Tzi has guided the charity’s humanitarian missions in social assistance, education, medical assistance, and cultural awareness, regardless of race, gender, age, creed, or origin, leading the charity to grow to 90 chapters all over the world,

Through annual initiatives such as Lotus Light Community Caring Day, the Hot Meal for the Homeless Program, Winter Charity Drive, Rice Donation, Lotus Light Scholarship, Children Assistance Plan, and Food Recovery, to name a few, the Society has been serving Vancouver’s most vulnerable in the community for over 31 years. The Society’s inspired goal, “through caring and learning we help build a better tomorrow,” drives Master Lian Tzi’s commitment, which comes straight from the heart. Her caring dedication has made her community a better and brighter place, benefiting tens of thousands. Her dedication is recognized by the government and community.

After being awarded the British Columbia “Community Achievement Award” in 2017, it is another significant national recognition for Master Lian Tzi to be awarded the King Charles III Medal. Her good deeds have been recognized by the country and society, and she is well-deserved. We are grateful to the Root Guru H.H. Living Buddha Lian-sheng for his compassion and humanitarian efforts to help the world and benefit all sentient beings.
