Lotus Light Donates Fresh Produce to Inner-City School Student Families for Mother’s Day

Just before Mother’s Day, with the support of charity partner Van-Whole Produce Ltd., Lotus Light Charity Society donated nearly 4,000 pounds of fresh produce to low-income families of inner-city school students in celebration of the holiday.

School neighborhood assistants expressed their gratitude for the generous contribution. “Thank you so much! We are honoured to have such a supportive community helping our families,” said Sylvia, Indigenous Education Enhancement Worker at Xpey’ Elementary School.

Van-Whole Produce Ltd. has partnered with Lotus Light for many years to support the society’s charitable initiatives. These include the annual Winter Charity Drive, the Lotus Light Community Caring Day, and the “10,000 Pounds of Mandarins for New Year” celebrations in both 2023 and 2025.

Lotus Light volunteers are currently raising funds and in-kind donations for the upcoming annual Lotus Light Community Caring Day—a celebration that provides household and food resources, along with a free BBQ lunch, to disadvantaged residents of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

The Lotus Light Charity Society welcomes contributions from generous individuals and corporate sponsors. For more details, please visit www.vllcs.org, call 604-685-5548, or email llcsvancouver@gmail.com.
