Lotus Light Volunteers Donate Food to the Community during Long Weekend, Over 20,000 Pounds of Foods Donated to the Community in September

On September 30, 2022, Lotus Light Charity Society volunteers deliver much needed food with caring heart to impoverished families over the long weekend and distributed 1,500 pounds of non-perishable food to charities serving low-income families in various communities across metro Vancouver, benefiting hundreds of families.

Just in this September, Lotus Light Charity Society contributed a total of over 20,000 lbs of foods to help community organization, inner-city school student hamper programs and senior and elder living in low-income housing units. LLCS Food Recovery program donated more than 15,000 pounds of non-perishable food to ten organizations serving low-income families in the community; recipients include Kingdom Acts Foundation, Guru Nanak Free Kitchen, Heart Tattoo Society (DTES Distribution Hub), Aboriginal Front Door Society, Yarrow Intergeneration Society, Cloverdale Community Kitchen, etc.  And the Lotus Light Children Assistance Plan also donated 1000 lbs over 4,000 pieces of non-perishable foods and household items to student hamper program in six inner-city schools. Lotus Light Food Recovery Team rescued over 5,000 pounds of foods from grocery stores and coffee shops across metro Vancouver and distributed to impoverished  families in DTES communities every month, including frozen meats, fresh vegetables and fruits, bread, canned food and sauce and jam, snacks and cake mix. Lotus Light charity kitchen prepared and distributed 1,000 free meals to vulnerable groups in DTES community.

Currently, the Lotus Light is launching the annual Winter Charity Drive 2022 and actively raising fund and collecting winter care material for Care Package to be distributed help street homeless. Winter Care materials needs including new hats, gloves, socks, scarves, blankets, raincoats and personal hygiene product, and ready to eat canned food, crackers, snack bars and bottled drink.
