Lotus Light Food Recovery Program Helps Metro Vancouver’s Neediest Residents

Throughout the year, the Lotus Light Charity’s Food Recovery Program weekly distributed 1000+ lbs of perishable and non-perishable food items to Metro Vancouver residents in need. In the first two weeks of December alone, the LLCS was able to distribute 15,000+ lbs of food and drink items; 12,000 lbs was donated by local gourmet food suppliers and the retail value of these donations was $120,000+.

Master Lian Tzi, president of the LLCS, commented on the impact of programs like these. “Poverty brings anxiety, isolation and stress. Our charity looks for ways to alleviate poverty for our most vulnerable among us — struggling low-income individuals, impoverished families with children, seniors, and the homeless. With our stagnant low wages, high cost of living, and our housing crisis, we must keep working together to create hope and opportunities for people in need.”

The recipients of these donations are community-service organizations, including homeless shelters and women’s shelters kitchens, and school food programs across Metro Vancouver.

The LLCS is proud to be serving those who need our help. The LLCS thanks its volunteers, corporate and individual sponsors, and its partner community service organizations for all their generosity and support in helping our programs run successfully.
