WCD 2021: Lotus Light Launches Children Assistance Plan (CAP)to help Inner City School Students
According to the 2021 child poverty report card published by child and youth advocacy coalition First Call, more than 150,000, or one in five children in British Columbia are living in impoverished households. Many students from low income family go to school without eating breakfast or often without enough food on the weekend when their parents need to work to support the family.
Lotus Light has run many food assistance programs to address student food insecurity issue since 2014. In the Winter Charity Drive 2021 presentation, Lotus Light will launch “Children Assistance Plan” (CAP) and donate grocery cards to inner city schools student food programs to support children from low income family. Winter Charity Drive 2021, now is in its 26th year, will donate and distribute new blankets, sleeping bags, socks, gloves, personal hygiene products, and grocery items to help low-income families, low-income students from inner city schools, and people experiencing homelessness in our community.
