Lotus Light Donates 5,000 Pounds of Food to the Community
In early September 2023, the Lotus Light Charity Society donated over 5,000 pounds of food to several community organizations serving low-income families and homeless individuals. These organizations include long-term partners such as Yarrow Intergenerational Society, SRO Collaborative, Aboriginal Shelter, and others. The donation included a variety of items, such as vegetables, fruits, canned goods, rice, frozen meat, bread, dairy products, beverages, and snacks. This contribution aims to enrich the food variety and nutrition available to residents in senior apartments and low-income communities.
Ms. Zhu, a volunteer from the association that serves senior apartments, expressed her gratitude upon receiving the donation. She mentioned how recent inflation has made it challenging for senior apartments to afford a variety of nutritious and healthy food items as they used to. Therefore, it is fortunate that the Lotus Light Charity Society can supplement their groceries with weekly donations, allowing them to provide more lavish meals to the seniors they serve.
The Lotus Light Charity Society is currently preparing for its annual Winter Charity Drive in November. We are stockpiling items such as hats, scarves, gloves, socks, blankets, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, cleaning and disinfecting supplies, as well as various food items. These items will be used to fill a thousand Care Packages that will be distributed to low-income families, street homeless individuals, and other vulnerable groups, as well as to charity organizations that serve the community.
