LLCS Donates 1000 Pounds of Food to Help Community Members in Need

On July 21, 2021, the Lotus Light Charity Society (LLCS) arranged for a 1000 lb donation to benefit the Our Lady of Sorrows parish in East Vancouver. The donation included items such as premium coffee, sparkling water, and cooked deli chicken.

Volunteers of the parish helped distribute the food and supplies to low-income single-parent families living near the Parish, located close to East Vancouver’s PNE Fair. Volunteers also helped distribute the items to struggling families in Coquitlam, poor Mexican farmworkers in Ladner, and refugee families in Surrey.

The same day, the LLCS charity kitchen cooked meals using fresh vegetables grown in the charity’s organic garden. The meals were distributed to low-income seniors living in social housing.

On July 22, LLCS volunteers donated 100 lbs of fresh produce grown in the charity’s organic garden, along with frozen meat from the Food Recovery program. The recipients of the donation include the Chinese Community Policing Centre serving low-income Chinese seniors, and the First United Church, to help vulnerable community members.

The LLCS Covid-19 Community Caring Drive will continue partnering with generous corporations, food warehouses, local food assistance groups, and food distribution hubs to distribute much-needed food and personal protection equipment (PPE) to community members in need.
